Earthquake (Seismic) Gas Shut-off or Excess Flow Valve Retrofitting
Seismic or Earthquake gas shut-offs and excess flow valves are now required by some municipal administrative authorities and insurance companies. Installation of such devices is not all that expensive and is a prudent preventative safety measure. If your seismic gas shut-off or excess flow valve has been engaged, you should employ a licensed plumber to ensure that it is safe to restore your gas service–before the device is reset.
